Public Hearing for Plainfield Outpatient Surgical Facility

The Connecticut Office of Health Strategy (OHS) is posting notice of a public hearing for the establishment of an Outpatient Surgical Facility proposed by Hartford Healthcare. Due to COVID-19, the hearing will be held virtually on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 10:00 am. Public comment sign up is at 9:00 am EST.  See the full announcement here.

OHS is a regulatory state agency under the Health Systems Planning Unit that administers the Certificate of Need Process. Certificate of Need (CON) is a regulatory program requiring certain types of health care providers to obtain state approval prior to making major changes in the healthcare landscape such as mergers, substantial capital investments in new equipment or facilities, changing access to services, or discontinuing a medical service.

The purpose of the public hearing is to allow community members an opportunity to voice their opinion regarding the proposal. Under normal circumstance the hearing would have been held in Plainfield at an easily accessible location. However, all hearings are currently being held remotely.
