The Connecticut Department of Public Health will distribute free water sample collection bottles to encourage northeast CT residents to test their private well water for arsenic and uranium, two naturally-occurring chemicals of concern. Tests typically cost up to $200 but will be offered free during the "On the Air Water Fair" at WINY Radio, 45 Kennedy Drive in Putnam from 6:00 - 9:00 am and again from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm during the Every Day is Earth Day Environmental Fair at Quinebaug Valley Community College, 742 Upper Maple Street in Danielson. Residents picking up a water sample collection bottle at WINY Radio on Tuesday morning, April 18th should have their name, home address and phone number printed on a piece of paper to make distribution of bottles quick and easy. Residents may return their water samples to the CT DPH display booth at WINY until 9am, back to QVCC by 2pm, or may return them to NDDH, 69 South Main Street, Unit 4 in Brooklyn by Tuesday, April 25th.
NDDH and a host of community partners are working together to protect Quiet Corner resources and residents for generations to come.
