Established July 1, 1973, the Northeast District Department of Health (NDDH) is a non-profit governmental organization that prevents illness, promotes wellness and protects the health of residents in twelve towns in northeast Connecticut. The NDDH service area covers approximately 438 square miles and serves a district of approximately 86,000 residents.

Office Hours: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

24/7/365 Contact - In the event of an emergency or to report an environmental or occupational public health hazard after hours, please call 9-1-1 and the dispatcher will contact the Director of Health or designee.

Holidays: Closed New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Day. If a holiday falls on a Saturday, the office is closed on Friday. If the holiday falls on Sunday, the office is closed on Monday.

Office closings: If the office closes due to weather or an emergency, a message will be left at
860-774-7350 and announcements are made on radio stations WINY 1350 AM, WICH 1310 AM,
WCTY 97.7 FM, WNLC 98.7 FM and WKNL 100.9 FM.
