Something to smile about.
Tooth decay (cavities) is one of the most common chronic conditions of childhood in the United States. Untreated tooth decay can cause pain and infections that may lead to problems with eating, speaking, playing, and learning. Fortunately, tooth decay is preventable.
Thousands of children have benefited from NDDH's Oral Health Initiative, a screening and education for schools program. In fiscal year 2015, 942 students in grades Pre-K, K, 6, 10 were screened in 12 schools in 5 districts (Eastford, Killingly, Putnam,Woodstock).
